Associate Chief Operating Officer

Gainesville, FL - Full Time

The ACOO functions as an operational leader of the organization and works in conjunction with the COO to develop, direct, and control activities needed to ensure business and clinical operational success.

The Associate Chief Operating Officer (ACOO) is responsible to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the oversight and coordination of the daily clinical operations.  The ACOO will bring skills for effective operation systems to improve the efficiency and productivity of the organization.


In accordance with the US Occupational and Safety Administration’s (OSHA) Emergency Temporary Standard, and as a condition of employment, successful applicants will be required to provide documentation that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with the current Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, or an approved exemption as of their start date. Details relating to demonstrating compliance with this requirement will be provided to applicants selected for employment. Applicants receiving an exemption will be required to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.

This position is considered a hands-on, working position.

  • Works with COO to develop, implement, and achieve short-term objectives.
  • Participates with and assists COO to develop, implement, and achieve long term organizational goals.
  • Oversee and ensure continuous improvement of critical operational processes.
  • Regularly visit clinical operations locations to monitor and evaluate operational efficiencies, as well as staff, clinicians, and patient needs.
  • Assist COO in the development and implementation of analytics and recommendations for operational efficiencies and organization growth.
  • Develop, mentor, support, and evaluate, and as appropriate, discipline direct reports.
  • Attend and participate in operational/organizational meetings, including at times taking the lead in these meetings.
  • Attend other meetings and retreats as requested by the COO, CEO, or Board of Managers Chair.
  • Assist with the development, planning and implementation of staff development and training programs such as SIMEDHealth Academy, STARS Awards, New Employee Orientation, Managers retreats, etc…
  • Enforce SIMEDHealth policies and procedures that are set froth by the CEO, COO, and/or Board of Managers.
  • Lead by example as an excellent role model of SIMEDHealth’s values of Respect, Independence, Trust, and Excellence

Qualified Candidates should have minimally:

  • Senior leadership team member with at least 5-7 years of previous supervisory experience in a medical or hospital setting (REQUIRED)
  • BA/BS degree or higher (preferred).  Experience may substitute for education)
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Demonstrates proficiency with computers (Microsoft Office), and electronic medical records
  • Reliable transportation as this position will require some travel to our various office locations in North Central Florida.
