Occupational and environmental health nursing is the specialty practice that provides for and delivers health and safety services to employees, employee populations and community groups. The practice focuses on promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and injury, and protection from occupational and environmental hazards. The Occupational Health Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner assesses, plans and provides comprehensive patient care independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. The expertise of the Occupational Health ARNP emphasizes disease prevention, health promotion and the management of patients with acute and chronic multi-health system problems based upon theoretical concepts and research findings from nursing, medicine and other sciences. The Occupational Health ARNP is responsible for providing cost-effective clinical care and case management to adult health care workers. The ARNP is responsible for supervising, delegating and directing care provided by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel. Department-based activities that contribute to positive, productive work and professional environment are performed.
Job Opening Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
A minimum of a master's degree in advanced nursing practice is required.
Board certification in specialty area preferred.
One year of advanced nurse experience preferred.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver."
NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile
a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
Current and clear license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Florida.
Current Basic Life Support certification.
Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse Specialist is preferred.
