Digestive Disease - Gainesville, FL - Full Time

SIMEDHealth is currently looking for a Full Time Medical Records Clerk to join the Digestive Disease Division 
in our Gainesville, FL office.  

The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for day to day preparation and maintenance of all medical records.
This includes medical records requests, scanning documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) and
handling of requests for patient records from outside clinics.

Our Medical Records Clerks are required to have an exceptional knowledge of HIPAA to ensure patient privacy,
be diligent about confidentiality, and have exceptional organizational and computer skills.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalency REQUIRED
  • Proficiency in utilizing a computer, internet and word processing programs. (REQUIRED).
  • Attention to detail, ability to follow through (REQUIRED)
  • Completion of an accredited medical records training program (PREFERRED)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (REQUIRED)
  • At least one year Electronic Medical Record experience. (PREFERRED)
  • 1-2 years in medical or hospital setting (PREFERRED)
  • Experience with electronic medical records. (PREFERRED)
  • Experience in a medical records position may substitute for education

The following are some of the duties which may be required of you:

  • Correctly scan and prep information for upcoming appointments
  • Assist callers in a timely manner
  • Complete all requests for ePHI.  Document release.
  • Assist Physician/Team Leader in accessing requested records
  • Knowledge & Understanding of HIPAA
  • Knowledge & Understanding of Medical Records Rights to Access Policy
  • Knowledge of processing medical records requests (General)
  • Knowledge of processing subpoenas
  • Accurate copying and provision of medical records
  • Demonstrates organizational skills
  • Knowledge of how to research old medical records (storage)
  • Understands and is knowledgeable of required patient forms (consent for treatment, etc…)
  • Understands and demonstrates proficiency in scanning charts and medical documentation into charts
  • Understands and invoices for medical records appropriately
