Digestive Disease Associates - Gainesville, FL - Full Time

SIMEDHealth is currently looking for a Full Time Procedure Scheduling Clerk to join us at
Digestive Disease Associates office in Gainesville, FL.  

The Procedure Scheduler is responsible for the management and coordination of the procedural cases scheduled.  
The flow of this process begins and ends at this position and it is the Procedure Scheduler’s responsibility to ensure
that patients are transitioned throughout the scheduling process smoothly. The Procedure Scheduler is also responsible
for ensuring that the data entered into the computer system is done so in a timely and accurate fashion.  
The Procedure Scheduler must fulfill the duties of his/her position while remembering Customer Service and professionalism
are key components of this position and the Procedure Scheduler may be the “face” of his/her division.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalency. (REQUIRED)
  • Proficiency in customer service (REQUIRED)    
  • Allscripts or similar electronic medical record software experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years previous medical office experience preferred.
  • Experience with surgical CPT Codes and consistent ICD-10 code utilization preferred.

The following are some of the duties which may be required of you:

  • Schedule patients
  • Explain prep instruction to patients, include any pre-operative laboratory/radiology orders 
  • Prints and Sends procedure order to appropriate facility 
  • Create and document Anticoagulation letter (sent to prescribing MD, received response and actions taken)
  • Attach lab/radiology reports if they were ordered at last office visit (if not, then call and attain the reports) 
  • Complete orders by provider, confirm questionable orders with providers
  • Identify the appropriate CPT codes and ICD-10 codes required for surgery
  • Effective communication and coordination between the patient, the surgeon, hospital pre-op services,                                                                                                                                                                    hospital staging, and/or other providers requiring clearance for surgery
  • Understands and demonstrates medical documentation into charts. 
  • Is proficient in HIPAA and Medical Records Rights to Access policies and procedures and adheres to them.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills
  • Compiles, Processes, Understands and is knowledgeable of required patient forms (consent for treatment, etc…)
  • Can respond to patient requests in a professional and appropriate manner
