SharpSpring is looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer to join our BI team onsite in Gainesville, FL! The Business Intelligence Engineer will use a combination of analytical, problem solving, technical and communication skills to help stakeholders make data-driven decisions. You will work closely with business analysts to scope, design and develop data sets to support cross functional customers. A successful candidate will know how to use business intelligence tools, and is effective at building multidimensional data sets. You are expected to work independently and with ambiguity in a complex, fast paced business environment.
Expand upon our Business Intelligence data model, with the goal of making datasets accessible and available to business analysts and departmental stakeholders.
Identify and implement analytical best practices; continually focusing on data integrity, design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
Evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement and developing and implementing solutions.
Develop complex SQL queries to materialize, analysis-ready datasets for business stakeholders.
Develop queries to back reports and widgets inside the SharpSpring application.
Implement exploration tools and dashboards in Looker to help cross functional stakeholders glean insights from data.
Work with senior management to refine, measure, and review key metrics to measure performance and provide strategic guidance.
Compile, analyze, and disseminate KPIs and key operational metrics.
You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science or related quantitative field (preferred).
You have 3+ years of professional experience in a business analytics/intelligence role utilizing enterprise databases with large-scale, complex data sets performing data mining and deep dive analysis.
You are experienced in advanced quantitative analysis including regression, classification, clustering, and time-series analyses.
You have experience writing and reviewing complex SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data.
You have experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
You have implemented strategies for gathering, reviewing, and analyzing data requirements.
You are able to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and provide recommendations.
You are an excellent communicator, particularly when explaining technical or complex matters to less technical stakeholders.
You are results and deadline-oriented; you are able to prioritize and multitask.
You pay high attention to detail.
You are a self-starter, capable of working with minimal oversight.
You have a positive, enthusiastic attitude and flexibility to do what it takes in a small team environment.
Additional development/programming experience is considered a plus!
Expert knowledge of SQL and Business Intelligence visualization tools (Looker preferred)
Hands on experience with data modeling and reporting in data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau or similar tool
Experience using any of the following software/tools strongly preferred but not required: BigQuery, Python, GitHub
Apply software engineering best practices to the analytics workflow (ex. Version control, testing)
