Job Description
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) is currently seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position described below. HOURS:           Full time, possibly some after hours, weekends and/or holidays. (Rotating on-call schedule).
SALARY:          Salary: $17.9218/ hourly. Plus educational incentive: $996 for Associates Degree, $2,004 for Bachelor’s Degree, $2,496 for Master Degree. Bi-weekly pay period.

DESCRIPTION:  Highly responsible professional and technical work involving daily support and maintenance for various PC computer systems within the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.  Work includes the evaluation and installation of new hardware and software, the maintenance of existing equipment and programs, performing maintenance on various systems for security, provide training for employees, and the troubleshooting of both PC hardware and software problems.
REQUIREMENTS:   To submit an application:
  • Current, valid Florida driver’s license
  • Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Preferred Major(s): Computer Science, Data Processing, or related field
  • Two (2) or more years of experience managing and maintaining personal computers in an office environment
  • Hardware and software experience (including Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite applications) required, including the installation of programs and peripherals
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or related certification in Microsoft (A+ and/or MCSE) may substitute for two (2) years of experience
  • Four (4) or more years of experience managing and maintaining personal computers may substitute for an Associate’s Degree
  • Any combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
  • Be of good moral character, have no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral character, perjury or false statements
  • No tattoos that depict violence, gang affiliation, illegal substance or activities
SELECTION:        The most qualified applicants will be scheduled for an interview.  Selected applicant must successfully complete the requirements of a conditional employment offer, a pre-employment background investigation, polygraph, physical examination, drug screening, and psychological evaluation.
