Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL PURPOSE
General responsibilities include coordinating and implementing projects and programs for business attraction including but not limited to lead generation and marketing to companies for the Greater Gainesville region; and coordinating leads, appointments and materials for new and current investors/partners of the regional economic development strategy.

Business Development:
  • Coordinates day-to-day operations related to Economic Development Department activities, including but not limited to the Chamber’s business recruitment such as marketing and media communications. 
  • Coordinates projects and marketing strategies by working with Chamber staff and Chamber stakeholders/partners, determining needs, analyzing trends, scheduling and coordinating meetings, implementing strategies, as well as preparing and submitting reports for business recruitment. 
  • Conducts research to identify emerging needs, trends, and services related to assigned area of offerings, and compiles and analyzes data for business recruitment. 
  • Assists in site analysis by preparing information packets, working with developers, realtors and area landowners, researching properties and businesses, and participating in facilitation of prospect tours. 
  • Prepares proposals to clients and responds to inquiries/requests for information for both business recruitment and investor relations. 
  • Coordinates the designing and implements marketing and/outreach materials to ensure public exposure to program offerings through print publication design, web site editing, social media, e-newsletters, direct mail and other applicable mediums for both business recruitment and investor relations. 
  • Coordinates meeting opportunities through prospect analysis and contact strategies in preparation of in-market and targeted out-of- market visits. 
  • Documents, tracks and generates reports regarding the economic development efforts through a client-tracking database for both business recruitment and investor relations.
Investor Relations:
  • Coordinates all investor/fundraising activities to ensure that goals are being achieved for the Economic Development strategy
  • Ensure that investor benefits created for fundraising campaign are delivering the promised “investor value proposition” in order to retain the investor base
  • Coordinate the new investor prospect pipeline list developed as a key strategy for the fundraising campaign going forward and to increase new investor participation on an ongoing basis
  • Build and maintain relationships with assigned and potential investors through well‐timed contacts and ongoing communications
  • Coordinates with Communications team to design and implement marketing and/outreach materials to ensure public exposure to program offerings through print publication design, web site editing, social media, e-newsletters, direct mail and other applicable mediums for both business recruitment and investor relations
  • Documents, tracks and generates reports regarding the economic development efforts for investor relations
Other:
  •      Coordinate intern(s). 
  •      Other duties as assigned. 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work economic development, public or business administration, communications, marketing, public affairs, finance, international business or a related field; or Associate's Degree and three (2) years of directly related experience in an economic development, business attraction and/or development research, community development planning, or a related field. Proficiency in the Internet, the use of computer software programs (example, word processing, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications but not required:
  •      Desktop Publishing using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign 
  •      Two or more years’ experience in economic development or related field 
  •      Membership and participation in related professional organizations 
  •      Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job, may be substituted for evaluation at the discretion of Chamber staff.
