“My role is to listen, share expertise, and offer practical advice to help you reach your goals.”

About the Presentation:

In this session you will learn:

  • Intellectual property definitions
  • Basis for claiming copyright or trademark protection
  • Effect of registering copyright or trademark
  • Application of copyright and trademark concepts in contracts

Copyright and trademark concepts are evident throughout your business, even though you may not know what they are, or you have actively done nothing to protect your rights. As soon as pen is put to paper, brush to canvas, or keyboard to screen, copyrighted works are made. As soon as names or logos are used in commerce in connection with goods or services, trademark rights are created. Proper language in contracts helps to preserve those rights. Legal registrations can strengthen those rights and help with enforcement. A basic understanding of copyright and trademark concepts will help establish, manage, and protect those rights.

The SF College IPDC Zoom Webinar Series offers local inventors, entrepreneurs and innovators the opportunity to connect with IPDC Partners, organizations and private sector companies who provide mentoring and learning opportunities for start-ups and their founders. These FREE events are led by subject area experts and cover topics relevant to product commercialization and growing your new business. The on-line events will be recorded and available for future viewing.
