Hailed by Musical America Worldwide for his “sensitive readings of Bach, Ligeti, and Dvorak,” Danish/American cellist Jonathan Swensen first asked to play the cello at age 6, after watching his father, Joseph Swensen, conduct the Elgar Cello Concerto. He performed this very concerto—with his father conducting—at his own debut in 2017, then 20 years old.
