Position Overview:

The General Manager is the driving force behind the overall success of City Food Hall, responsible for ensuring the business thrives financially while delivering an unparalleled guest experience. This role involves oversight of vendor relationships, facility maintenance, and most importantly, cultivating a motivated, high-performing team. The General Manager will set the tone for service excellence, operational efficiency, and team culture while leading through example.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a work environment aligned with City Food Hall’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Analyze financial statements, sales reports, and KPIs to assess performance against budget and forecasts, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Oversee daily operations, including service quality, cleanliness, food safety, and local marketing initiatives.
  • Approve staff schedules, ensuring coverage during key meal periods and adherence to labor laws.
  • Lead the financial planning process, including annual and quarterly forecasting and budgeting.
  • Manage controllable expenses using weekly and periodic declining budgets.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and disciplinary actions for all staff.
  • Ensure the bar is operated with professionalism and profitability while delivering outstanding guest service.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to managers, focusing on team development, guest service, and overall performance.
  • Identify and address operational gaps, proposing solutions to improve processes, training, and vendor relations.
  • Build strong partnerships with vendors and foster collaborative relationships.
  • Conduct regular management meetings and ensure smooth communication across all levels of staff.
  • Implement new operational and procedural changes to improve business efficiency.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the facility.
  • Engage with the local community and create initiatives that embed City Food Hall into community culture.
  • Drive sales through activation of the Market and effective promotional strategies.
  • Cultivate a positive, empowering work culture that prioritizes teamwork, service, and fun.
  • Lead by example, maintaining the highest levels of professionalism and guest service.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a General Manager in a restaurant or hotel environment with annual sales of $5M+.
  • Proven experience in restaurant openings.
  • At least 5 years of P&L responsibility, including experience creating declining budgets, annual sales forecasts, and conducting P&L analysis.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • 5+ years as a General Manager in a high-volume setting ($5M+ annual sales).

  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Passion for the hospitality industry and delivering exceptional guest service.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to speak, hear, and see with normal range or corrected vision (including color vision and depth perception).
  • Frequent standing, walking, and the ability to remain on your feet for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs as required.
  • Regular use of hands, including frequent washing.

Additional Information:

  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for business purposes.

Job Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually
