Jim Bowie, Associate Director of Incubation Services at UF Innovate / The Hub

Jim has experience on both sides of the fence as an entrepreneur and a coach. Before coming to Gainesville, he ran several incubators in Orlando for UCF and in Columbus, GA for Ga Tech. His successes and failures with four start-ups lets him use the phrase ‘when I was in your shoes...”.

About the Presentation:

UF Innovate / The Hub is a business incubator for technology and life science entrepreneurs. It is the largest home for early-stage companies in the Southeastern USA. Once accepted into the incubation program, the entrepreneur leases an office/lab and takes advantage of all the support services. Some of the services include business coaching, connection to UF resources, funding sources, introductions to interns, educational workshops, and many other doors that are opened for the entrepreneur. It is an opportunity for an ambitious businessperson to be a part of a leading-edge tech community that will help conserve their cash and accelerate their path to success.

In this session you will learn:

  • Why you need a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system

  • Why the Love/Hate relationship with a CRM

  • Some of the more popular (CRM) platforms

  • What are the strengths and weaknesses of the CRM platforms

  • Integration of your CRM with additional modules (QuickBooks, inventory, proposal generators, web services)

  • Can you migrate from one platform to another as you grow

Attendees will have an understanding of the importance of a CRM and why you may have a love hate relationship. How to select the type of CRM that’s right for your business and your budget. We will discuss what the attendees experiences have been with their CRMs.
