Neighbors are invited to share their needs and interests in redeveloping the sports and recreation facilities at the MLK Multipurpose Center and Citizens Field. The City of Gainesville has recently engaged Johnson Consulting to conduct a Market Analysis and Financial Feasibility Study to invest in a sports facility and/or fieldhouse, expansion of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Multipurpose Center, Citizens Multipurpose Fields, as well as Citizens Field Stadium upgrades. The continued success of these existing facilities in providing recreational opportunities for residents as well as providing economic impact-related athletic venues for competitive sports has piqued the City's interest in investing in amateur sports opportunities.
With that in mind, citizens are invited to a community meeting during which they will be encouraged to share their needs, interests and expectations regarding a sports complex, and what success of this effort would look like.
