LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is celebrating EMS Week from May 17-23, 2026, honoring local heroes with a series of blood drives in partnership with HCA Florida Healthcare and the Alachua County Fire Rescue. Donors are encouraged to give local and save local and will receive a $25 e-gift card and a commemorative EMS blood donor t-shirt. A highlight of the week will be a special event on Tuesday, May 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the LifeSouth donor center located at 4039 Newberry Road, Gainesville, featuring a free lunch for all blood donors and Alachua County Fire Rescue EMS personnel. Additionally, a community blood drive will be held on Friday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Alachua County Fire Station 33, located at 5901 NW 34th Blvd, Gainesville.
