Name: LifeSouth's "What Colors Do You Bleed?" blood drive competition
Date: September 16, 2024 - September 20, 2024
Event Description:
Battle of the blood donors: Vols vs. Gators

Fans in Gainesville and Knoxville will have a chance to show their school spirit in the annual “What Colors Do You Bleed?” blood drive challenge.
The contest pits the blood donors in Gainesville and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers against the blood donors in Knoxville and Medic Blood Center, September 16-20. Whichever team draws the most donors earns bragging rights for the year.
Blood donors can participate at any of the LifeSouth donor centers in Gainesville, 1221 NW 13th St., 4039 Newberry Road or 142566 W Newberry Road in Jonesville, and on-campus blood drives at the Harrell Medical Center, Sorority Row, and Dickinson Hall during the week of Sept. 16-20. The goal is to donate more blood than the Tennessee fans in Knoxville.
“Knoxville is whole lot bigger than Gainesville, so we’re kind of underdogs in this fight, but we hope the Gainesville community can help us pull this out,” said Lorrie Woods, LifeSouth’s North Florida District Director.
Donors will receive a $20 e-gift card, a custom t-shirt, and a chance to win a new electric scooter from Campus Scooters. LifeSouth supplies one hundred percent of the blood to the hospitals in Gainesville and the surrounding communities.
Anyone 17 or older (16 with parental permission), weighing a minimum of 110 pounds and in good health is eligible to donate. A photo ID is also required. Call (352) 334-1000 for more information or visit LifeSouth at www.lifesouth.org
