SUMMARY:

The Production Manager supports the daily operations of the plant by assisting the Operations Manager. Areas of assistance include tasks concerning safety, waste, training, procedures, process reliability, and inventory/SAP. Effective training skills, computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations, as well as clear verbal and written communication skills are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. DAILY PRODUCTION SUPPORT –
    1. Assist in the management of the Process Reliability system, including downtime tracking and reduction.
    2. Help address processing and quality concerns, working with Supervisors, Process Engineers, and Operations Manager, to correct and keep quality production moving.
    3. Assist Supervisors, Process Engineers, and Operations Manager in the development of corrective and preventive action for off-quality, late orders, complaints, audit action requests, IMS incidents, etc. Follow-up to ensure timely closure of action items.
    4. Review completed batchsheets on determined sampling frequency, reporting non-conformances and improvement suggestions to appropriate associates.
    5. Assist the Process Engineers with reviewing of process trends and batchsheets, where applicable, to troubleshoot process and or efficiency issues.
    6. Participate in PRCs and PHAs when knowledgeable of processes under review.
    7. Assist with inventory accuracy and SAP transactions. Train operators on SAP, when needed. Participate in physical inventory counts and reconciliation. Assist with management of recycle streams.
    8. Assist with review and improvement of Production related procedures.
    9. Manage Projects and initiatives as determined by the Operations Manager or Plant Manager.
    10. Assist the Operations Manager with scheduling and staffing to ensure adherence to schedules.
  2. PRODUCTION TRAINING –
    1. Assist with new associate development and process training plan for Production new hires.
    2. Communicate regularly with Production new hires to assist with process skills and their adjustment to plant culture.
    3. Identify morale issues and work with the appropriate individuals to develop action plans.
    4. Review and understand all Production disciplinary actions and insure consistent application of HR policies.
  3. SAFETY – Adhere to all plant safety policies and compliance regulations.  Actively participate in the safety process through completing of safety audits, participating in safety projects, identifying Site Hazards and contributing to safety improvements, and being an attending member of a safety team.  Complete annual safety training as required.  Specific duties include but are not limited to:
    1. Promote safety as a core behavior and lead by example.
    2. Encourage production operator participation in safety processes.
    3. Continuously seek to improve housekeeping.
    4. Conduct safety training and help train responsible individuals when deficiencies are found.
      1. Ensure associates have the adequate training necessary to safely perform their jobs.
      1. Enforce safety rules.
    1. Complete required training and be a qualified and active member of the plant Emergency Response Team (ERT)
  1. QUALITY – Become familiar with, understand and comply with Milliken Quality Policy, Standard Operating Procedure(s) (SOPs), relevant ISO 9000 standards and Company Policies that are applicable to this position.
    1. Implement and maintain quality systems established by the Quality Manual and other quality procedures.
    2. Responsible for improving the plant quality performance. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
      1. Ensure procedures are followed.
      1. Ensure associates are adequately trained on process or equipment.
      2. Ensure associate suggestions receive appropriate responses.
    1. Review and make improvement suggestions for relevant procedures.
  1. RESPONSIBLE CARE
    1. Be aware of the relevant requirements of the Responsible Care Management System (RC-14001) and follow plant procedures to ensure compliance to requirements.
    2. Understand the RC-14001 Significant Aspects of your job and help ensure controls are in place to reduce or eliminate negative impacts.
    3. Take actions and identify and communicate ideas to minimize waste, prevent pollution and conserve energy.
    4. Contribute to continuous improvement of the plant environmental, health, safety, security, and Responsible Care performance and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Required
    1. BS or higher degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or another relevant field.
    2. At least 2 years related experience in one or more of the following: plant operations, R&D, pilot plant operations, quality assurance, or other position with relevant experience managing people.
    3. Strong attention to detail to insure efficient production operation.
    4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure, and handle multiple priorities.
    5. Strong written, verbal, communication, and organization skills
